Isilon Hosts Industry Leaders Panel on The Future of Life Sciences And IT at
Bio-IT World 2009
Dr. George Church of the Personal Genome Project and Matthew Trunnell of The Broad Institute Among Industry Leaders Discussing Impact of IT on Next Generation of Life Sciences Research
SEATTLE - April 24, 2009 - Isilon® Systems (NASDAQ: ISLN), the proven leader in scale-out NAS, today announced a unique gathering of industry leaders from life sciences and IT at the Bio-IT World Conference and Expo 2009 in Boston, Mass. Dr. George Church, founder of the Personal Genome Project and director of the Lipper Center for Computational Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Matthew Trunnell, manager of research computing at The Broad Institute, are among industry leaders joining Isilon CEO Sujal Patel to discuss the impact of continued IT innovation on the next generation of life sciences research. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Kevin Davies, editor-in-chief of Bio-IT World magazine.
The panel, "What's Next for Life Sciences Research and IT? And How Do We Get There From Here?" will take place Monday, April 27, at 2:45 p.m. ET in Boston's World Trade Center.
"The life sciences are experiencing a period of unprecedented change and discovery, driven by accelerating innovation in both research methodologies and the information technology powering these methods," said Dr. Kevin Davies, editor-in-chief, Bio-IT World. "The question is: what effect will this transformative period have on the future of life sciences and how will IT act as a catalyst - not a deterrent - for the next wave of breakthroughs in research and drug discovery?"
Today, Complete Genomics, the Broad Institute, Cedars-Sinai Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center, and the UCLA Laboratory of Neuro Imaging, are among many leading life sciences organizations using Isilon scale-out NAS solutions to dramatically increase the productivity of mission-critical life science and bioinformatics research applications, while significantly reducing IT cost and complexity.
"With today's next-generation research taking place both in the laboratory and in the data center, we must examine the rapidly increasing integration between IT and life sciences to maximize the potential of leading-edge research," said Sujal Patel, CEO, Isilon Systems. "Isilon has had great success helping leading life science organizations accelerate their rate of discovery and maximize their technology investments, and we look forward to leveraging this experience to continue advancing the state of research going forward."
