Simple and Flexible Quota Management and Provisioning

SmartQuotas allows you to control and limit storage usage and to easily provision a single pool of Isilon scale-out storage.  Using SmartQuotas, you can assign quotas that seamlessly partition storage into easily managed segments for quotas at the cluster, directory, sub-directory, user, and group levels. With SmartQuotas as part of your Isilon scale-out storage platform, you have thin provisioning capability to easily present more storage capacity to applications and users than is physically installed.   

SmartQuotas is cluster aware and spans across all Isilon nodes, regardless of the cluster size.  With SmartQuotas you can administer quotas from a single point of view, provision storage exactly as needed and change quota policy options on demand.

A Powerful, Configurable Tool

• Quotas can be defined for specific individual users or groups, or create default quotas that control disk usage for anyone accessing the cluster.
• Policies can be set so specific users and groups are only allowed to “see” the storage they have been provisioned. Hard, soft and advisory limits can be set across the organization for specific users and groups, and across various directory structures.
• Alerts can be configured to give users email notifications when quota limits are approaching, to enforce hard stops on writes or provide a grace period before enforcing thresholds.
• When new users need to be added or directory structures need to be changed, SmartQuotas allows you to change quota policies on the fly—easily meeting the changing storage requirements of your business.
